Chisme is wondering if he really loves Brownsville. After all, Mayor Pat says if you oppose the $2 monthly PUB fee he cooked up it means you don’t love the city. Sort of sounds like President W and the war in Iraq, verdad? You know, you’re either with W on the war, or you’re not really true-blue American. With Pat, you’re either with him on his love for the perritos, or you’re against everything Brownsville stands for.
Remember when Mayor Pat was just regular Pat and got on the PUB board? He came on the board a snarling, saying he was as mean as “a junkyard dog.” Remember that? That’s when regular Pat sued some of his fellow PUB board members for not being as saintly and holy as he was then - and still is now. Now that regular Pat is Mayor Pat again, it didn’t take long for the junkyard dog to rear his canine head, speaking up, for what else, the dogs of Brownsville.
The junkyard dog railed for months before becoming mayor about rising utility bills. Then Pat is back in charge at City Hall, y que hace, he wants to raise everyone’s utility bills by $2 a month , so in part, the dogs and cats can have better digs at the city shelter. Bueno, Mayor Pat’s first try to impose the monthly fee failed, pero perro, he’s not giving up. The mayor is bringing up the proposal again this Tuesday at 6 p.m. at a special City Commission meeting, and says that he “will do everything I can to pass it.”
See, this is classic Pat. The more people get in his face about something, the more the dude will push to get it done just so he can prove he’s the mero-mero. Typical macho behavior for the junkyard dog, whose $2 fee has been roundly panned by Brownsville residents. Mayor Pat says he wants everyone to show up and voice their opinion on his proposed fee, but even if every tio, tia and abuelita shows up to oppose the idea, a Ahumada no le importa. The locals ought to take up Pat’s invitation and show up at the meeting. Growl loud and let the junkyard dog know how you feel.
City commissioners Longoria and Atkinson are sure to vote for the Pat pooch proposal. Longoria likes sticking to it what he considers to be the city establishment, and he know Pat the pooch lover drives the local jefes crazy with his oddball behavior. And Atkinson, I don’t know, the guy is just kind of weird.
Mayor Pat has already stirred things up, and this is just the beginning, raza. There’s a lot more where this came from. Dull, he’s not, wise he surely isn’t either.
You know i think its a bunch of bs for us to donate 2 dollars…..i recently became unemployed and i am a single mom with two small children and i cant pay my light bill. well i called to these assistance programs thru pub and they cant help me………..the hell with that!
How can you compare George W. and Ahumada? Ugh! Poor George!! I can go back and forth on the article… however… the highlight? “And Atkinson, I don’t know, the guy is just kind of weird.” That was hysterical!
PAT NEEDS TO REPAIR MY STREET. PAT NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS AND QUIT SPENDING TIME ON DOGS AND CATS. AGAIN…BROWNSVILLE IS PROVIDING LAUGHS FOR THE REST OF THE VALLEY
Yeah!! Single Mom with kids, you probably are the one with the expansive cellular and the expansive manicure. You can not pay the light bill (you claim), but you have time to be in a computer instead of taking care of your kids??
Give the Mayor a some time, he just started about a month ago, ALL the things everyone complains (bola de llorones) about have been there for thre from long ago.
AGAIN GIVE THE MAYOR A CHANCE “Roma no se hizo en un Día”
The city of Brownsville will continue to be known as the biggest city in the valley but the poorest! People, quit complaining about the 2.00 and get real. The problems you have with the Mayor have been there for a long time and are not going to stop any time soon. The reason? Well,we dont want to progress like Harlingen and Mcallen!! We vote and then complain and this is just the way the majority of the people in Brownsville are, never happy or satisfied. It was my understanding that the 2.00 was going to be split 1.00 for the pups and 1.00 was to go towards the purchase of an ambulance or several. Do I stand corrected or is this still the plan? The problems with the pups is not how many you have but how you take care of them. If you cant keep your pups in your yard, they should be p/u by city and the owner fined!!! Everyday you read how parents are being jailed for not taking care of their kids, maybe the Mayor and commissioners should implement the same for the dog owners who cant take care of their pets.
We elected the Mayor and commissioners, lets give them time to adjust and work together instead of against each other. Lets work for a better Brownsville tommorrow by supporting our Mayor and Commissioners.
