Jose, you sure are a sucker for punishment. If your mind is already made up about Joaquin's political commentary why torture yourself reading it. Is it to bolster your already ingrained beliefs about biased reporting? What does that accomplish other than to fuel your paranoia?

I'm not discouraging anyone from reading the newspaper. My reference was to the commentaries in this section. I appreciate everyone reading unless they find it so offensive that they can always find plenty of other things to read online.
I think we get where you're coming from - and good for you for whatever views you have.
We've run any number of crticisms of Obama, from readers, columnists and the like. Look in this past Sunday's Viewpoints section. You'll find plenty there to strike your fancy.

"And Jose, with all due respect, I appreciate you reading, but if you don’t like the perspective being presented, you don’t have to read it."

Well thanks alot... I really appreciate the attitude. So it's kind of like 2nd grade, since you have the ball, we all play by your rules or you take the ball home ? I live and work in Brownsville, and there is only one paper in town, exactly what daily should I read? I should not expect balanced, fair, accurate reporting? I did notice that you didn't address my point about the biased reporting in the Herald. I guess you are proud of it, and if I don't like it I can cast my eyes away from the Herald.

It's not about shots, it's about being honest and fair. First, I didn't read anywhere in the mainstream press where Obama was taking hard shots or suffering any untruths about his religion, place of birth, family, etc., especially not in the Herald. It was mostly talk radio, the conservative blogs, and the very very few conservative television programs on cable tv. Is it not a legitimate question to ask to see his real birth certificate? He hasn't produced it. When we are at war with Islam, and Obama was enrolled in a muslim school as a child, is it not legit to ask questions about his education? He has several muslim half brothers and sisters in Africa, is not legit to ask about his family ? Palin was crucified about her and her husbands ties to a group that wanted Alaska to separate from the United States, those hard shots went on for weeks and weeks, and no one from that separatist group has ever done anything except run their mouth. No bombings or no running an airplane into a building in downtown Ney York. Yet, Rashid Khalidi, a well known Isreal hater who said that Israel's founding in 1948 was a "catastrophe", held a fundraiser for Obama. When you have an Arab with ties to Radical Islam holding a fundraiser for Obama, is it wrong to ask questions about thier connections ?

Fair and Balanced, give the folks the facts.

You know, right wingers accuse liberals all the time of ``playing the victim card,'' and yet, when one of their own, someone like Palin, is criticized, they whine left and right on how unfairly she's being treated.
Pobricieta. Let's see, other than being called a terrorist, Muslim, athiest, illegal immigrant and black radicial, I can't think of anything else that Fox News and its conservative media allies have called Obama.

And it can also be said of Obama that he is, by all accounts, a good husband, father, son and grandson. He, too, Rick, has gone to work each day, taken care of his family, believes in Jesus Christ, and plenty of you conservatives have hardly treated him with much respect.
The whining that is being heard from the politicial right is because they're about to lose badly on election day, all over this great country.
Palin has received some bad press because she has shown an inability to intelligently answer even the most basic questions on policy and key issues.

I'd say there are still many people who practice good manners. Every national politicial figure going back to Washington, Jackson and Lincoln have taken hard shots, criticisms. All four national candidates, presidential and VP candidates, have accomplished much in life.
Just as Palin can be praised as is the case above, so can Obama. He, too, has accomplished much in his life, from growing up without a father, in modest financial means as raised by his mother and grandparents, and then through merit, work and smarts attends and graduates from some of this country's best universities.
Biden and McCain have also accomplished much. Still, they're going to take some hard shots, as that's the nature of being a prominent public figures - and Obama above all of the above candidates has taken the hardest shots of all, in my opinion, with many untruths about his religion, place of birth, family, etc.
Those supporting national candidates who are behind or will lose gripe about the media. There's lots more media out there than ever before and consumers can take that which they please.
And Jose, with all due respect, I appreciate you reading, but if you don't like the perspective being presented, you don't have to read it.

Yes, I grew up in and I yearn for the America of long ago, (say pre-60's), it is what many a patriotic Republican yearns for these days.
It's true, I yearn for a time when you could shake a mans hand and have it mean something. I yearn for a time when you could go to work and if you did your job, and worked hard, you were rewarded for it, instead of being replaced by someone in India, or China. I yearn for a time when the media was responsible, and reported fairly on both candidates, not like today when the media, including the Herald is in the tank for Obama. I yearn for a time when a woman, who just gave birth to a special needs child, who goes to work everyday, takes care of her children and husband husband, goes to church, and believes in jesus Christ , would be treated with respect and held in high esteem. Yep, I yearn for those days.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but hispanics have nothing to do with it.

There you go again...the acid is dripping out of your mouth. Another anti-Palin diatribe. I hate to tell you, but the most recent stats say that about 15.1% of the total US population is Hispanic. Add in all the illegals and we might be around 18.1%. 15-20 % Hispanic does not make this nation Hispanic. Get over it, and move on. .
I find it interesting that EVERYTHING you write is from a Hispanic perspective. Actually a "poor me" I'm a victim perspective. Does it suprise me that you write from a Hispanic perspective? NO, it does not, because that is who you are. Why then, when Palin is from a small community, in a small population state, would you be suprised that her perspective, or her preference would be small town? Palin grew up around native indians, her husband is a native American, is it any wonder then that she has a native indian perspective? No.
This Blog says alot about you and you bias and prejudice. Biden can stand up and say things that are outrageous, or just plain stupid, and you NEVER, EVER report on him, yet palin says "these wonderful pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard-working, very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation.” and you go on and on and on. BIASED REPORTING - BIASED COMMENTARY.
